When ordering an external battery, make sure your AC tip is included. Smart models like Dell D-family, Lenovo models and the newest Compaq/HP model are not compatible with this battery. This battery will last 2-4 hours depending on the power draw. The more cells inside a battery, the longer it lasts. Check the battery ratings for the type of battery you have. You should find a rating that looks like this: 11.1V --- 5000mAh. This would be a 6-cell battery. Since battery cells have different capacities, remember that an 6-cell battery could also be 4000mAh or 4800mAh. So, when shopping for a battery, make sure the prices are for equivalent prices. The higher the milliamp rating of the battery, the longer you can use the battery before recharging it. The voltage of the battery does not matter. Typically, Lithium batteries are 10.8 volt to 11.1 volt or 14.4 volt to 14.8 volt. THIS BATTERY WILL NOT CHARGE YOUR INTERNAL BATTERY WHEN SET OVER 14V.
