I had purchased this keyboard after spilling a few drops of coca-cola on the keyboard that eventually ran under the keys and forced the keyboard to stop working properly.
The exact error that I ran across was that directly after my laptop would POST it would begin to beep repeatedly. This was caused by my laptop interpreting the signal sent from the broken keyboard as a stuck key. This prevented my laptop from booting.
I ordered this keyboard with the hopes that it would fix my problem and fortunately it was perfect. The only difference that I noticed between this keyboard and the factory keyboard that came with my laptop was the actual number of connections in the 'plastic ribbon cable' This, however did not prevent the keyboard from functioning perfectly.
*My Toshiba laptop also includes the connector for what appears to be the back-lit keyboard. I am assuming by the location of the connector and the addition of another 'plastic ribbon cable' this laptop may also be able to use the back-lit keyboard.

When one of the keys died on my Toshiba Satellite A505-6960 and it was out of warranty, I decided to see if I could replace the keyboard myself. I found the procedure online to do this, which looked very simple, and then searched for a replacement keyboard.
National Parts Depot, where I was directed from the support section of the Toshiba website, wanted $90 + shipping for the keyboard. I found this keyboard at LPE for $43 with ground shipping and it was delivered in 4 days. It installed fairly easily on my Toshiba and works perfect. I say "fairly easily" because inserting the keyboard's ribbon cable into the connector was a bit stubborn.

I just received this replacement keyboard after having spilled coffee all over my original one. I have a Toshiba Satellite A505 Series S6992 model, and this keyboard doesn't have the glossy finish that the original one did. It still looks fine, and to be honest, I kind of like it better, it was a pain to be constantly wiping off finger prints!
As for functionality, it works great!
